Compass is now more capable with EV power and new tech.

Jeep has revealed its next-generation Compass SUV. The all-new Compass now rides on the STLA Medium platform and offers a spread of hybrid and full-electric drivetrains.

Aimed squarely at the fiercely competitive medium SUV segment, the new Compass is leaner, smarter and more versatile, but still unmistakably a Jeep.

Electrified, but still a proper Jeep

Production remains in Italy at Stellantis’ Melfi plant, a key electrification hub. The new Jeep Compass will initially be available as a 145kW e-Hybrid or a 213kW front-drive battery-electric vehicle (BEV), with a WLTP range of up to 500km.

The broader BEV line-up will top out at 280kW in dual-motor, all-wheel drive form featuring a beefed-up 49kW/232Nm rear electric motor with a 14:1 reduction gear that will effectively send up to 3100Nm to the rear wheels and allow it to climb 20% gradients without front traction.

Off-road capability hasn’t been left behind. Even front-wheel drive versions will get Jeep’s Selec-Terrain system and 360-degree underbody protection. Ground clearance reaches 200mm, while AWD models offer up to 31° of departure angle and 470mm water fording depth. Hill descent control comes standard on AWD variants.

The boxy, heritage-rich exterior returns with updated details - think tighter surfacing, aero refinements and subtle cues like repositioned radar sensors and an integrated Jeep shield for extra durability. Aerodynamic tweaks, including a flat underbody and active grille shutters, cut drag by 10%, helping the top-spec BEV hit a range of 650km under the WLTP cycle.

More room, less clutter

Interior packaging is also improved, with 55mm of extra rear legroom and boot space increased by 45L to a total of 550L. There’s a new 34L front storage bin and flexible 40/20/40 split-fold rear seats across the range.
Tech gets a significant lift.

A 10-inch digital cluster and 16-inch centre display are standard across all variants, along with Level 2 driving assistance, OTA software updates, and connected services. Optional features include a head-up display (HUD), semi-automatic lane changes and ventilated massaging seats - gear more commonly found in premium segments.

First Edition hits early

Jeep’s limited-run First Edition will spearhead the rollout, offering a choice of 145kW e-Hybrid or 213kW BEV with front-drive. It features 20-inch wheels, LED matrix headlights, Level 2 autonomy and a hands-free tailgate.

Inside, cloth and vinyl heated seats with lumbar support come standard.
Customers can pick from six nature-themed colours including the launch hue “Hawaii”, a vivid green inspired by tropical landscapes. Other options are a nod to regions like the Pacific, Yosemite and Amazonia.

Fabio Catone, Head of Jeep in Enlarged Europe, said the new Compass “boldly represents the brand’s forward-thinking philosophy,” adding that it “stands as a powerful testament to our relentless pursuit of innovation and versatility.”

Deliveries for the First Edition Jeep Compass are expected to begin in Europe in Q4 2025. Jeep New Zealand has yet to disclose local availability or pricing, although it has been confirmed for sale in Australia in mid-2026.
