General Motors Australia & New Zealand is serving up generous buying incentives on the Lyriq EV-SUV. The packages are different for each country: in Australia, it comprises very favourable finance and coverage of Luxury Car Tax and on-road costs.
For NZ, the pitch is "pay zero GST", although it's essentially a discount by another name. Kiwi customers purchasing a Lyriq simply get an automatic price reduction equivalent to the GST amount on the car, appplied automatically at the "digital shopfront" prior to purchase. The company says this starts at around $16,000, depending on the individual cars being purchased.
The company says the offer applies to all current 2025-model-year stock, and is valid until 30 September this year, or while stocks last.
Lyriq is the first of a range of electric Cadillacs confirmed in factory right-hand drive for NZ. There's a fast Lyriq-V version on the way, along with the smaller Optiq and larger Vistiq for 2026.
GM ANZ has been clear about the Lyriq being a startup for the brand in NZ rather than a volume model, but the registrations for the year have been been very modest indeed: Motor Industry Association figures show just 10 Lyriqs have hit the road year-to-date, including demonstrators.
Lyriq pricing was initally announced at $117,000-$119,000 last year ahead of launch in 2025, but raised to approximately $124,000-$126,000 when the vehicle came to market.
Indicative pricing post-discount for NZ until September (according to Cadillac's customer website) is $107,615 for the Luxury and $109,354 for the Sport.
