Mazda is adding a new model to its CX-80 SUV line up with the introduction of a 3.3-litre mild-hybrid version of the top-spec Homura.
The seven-seat SUV was first introduced in late 2024 with a range featuring a 2.5-litre four-cylinder plug-in hybrid and a 3.3-litre six-cylinder mild hybrid across a number of models, with the Homura being solely available with the PHEV powertrain.

The CX-80 Homura trim level builds on the CX-80 SP offering and includes features such as a Bose audio system, a panoramic glass sunroof, electric steering column adjustment, and heated outer rear seats in addition to heated front seats. Homura models also feature an enhanced Driver Personalisation System that incorporates Driving Position Assist, which recommends a driving position.
Mazda’s 3.3-litre inline six-cylinder turbo petrol hybrid engine produces 209kW and 450Nm, with its mild hybrid system being mainly an assist, but it still helps keep the big sixes' consumption down to a very reasonable 8.4l/100km.

"The CX-80 has hit the ground running since launch last year, incredibly well-received by our customers, and is proving to be a valued choice for families and those wanting a large SUV," said Mazda New Zealand managing director, David Hodge.
"With the introduction of the Homura 3.3 Hybrid, this provides another choice, offering either the exceptional capabilities of a plug-in hybrid or the sound, smoothness and performance only found in an inline six."
The new Homura 3.3 will join the CX-80 range from "mid-2025" and is priced at $82,990, slotting into the range between the SP 2.5 plug-in hybrid at $80,990 and the Homura 2.5 plug-in hybrid at $89,490. The CX-80 SP 3.3-litre mild hybrid starts the range at $74,990.
