  • Mild styling changes including new grille.
  • Skeleton Hood function for 3D camera system.
  • New interior trim and colours.

A mildly updated version of the Nissan X-Trail is now on sale in New Zealand. It features "refreshed" front and rear styling (you'll be hard pressed to pick it, though), new wheel designs, the 12.3-inch infotainment screen with wireless phone projection now standard across the range, and upgraded interior trim.

Note new V-Motion grille design. Actually, fooled you: this is the old one. You know, for reference.

A new 3D Digital Around View Monitor with "Skeleton Hood" and T-junction views is also available from the ST-L model upwards.

On the outside, the "V-Motion" grille has a different finish, there's a redesigned front bumper, and fresh LED lighting signatures.

There are two new exterior colour options, Deep Ocean Blue and Everest White. A new Chestnut interior colour combination is added for the Ti-L, replacing Tan. On all variants with the black interior, the upper dash and door trims are now black rather than brown.

The steering wheel design is revised and there's an upgraded leather-accented interior on the mid-grade ST-L, replacing the previous synthetic leather trim. Front passengers on the ST-L now have 10-way power seat adjustment, including two-way lumbar support, matching the driver’s seat and replacing the previous manual adjustment.

The entry-level ST now gets the full 12.3-inch touchscreen display (previously 8.0in) with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Petrol and e-Power engines unchanged for 2026.

From the ST-L and above, the 3D Around View Monitor allows customers to virtually rotate the vehicle or select from 8 different camera views, for parking and manoeuvring in tight spaces.

Skeleton Hood View is designed to improve visibility on narrow roads, including greater visibility of obstacles at wheel and ground levels.

Powertrains are unchanged, with petrol across the range and e-Power hybrid/range-extender technology available on ST-L and Ti-L. However, service intervals have increased on e-Power to 15,000km/12 months (previously 10,000km/12 months).

Prices have risen substantially, especially for the e-Power versions - despite a relignment (runout?) for the previous model that brought the ICE and e-Power equivalents closer together. The biggest rise is for the flagship Ti-L e-Power, which goes up from $55,990 to $64,990. The outgoing models are still listed (so presumably still available) on Nissan NZ's website.

The former X-Trail flagship model, the off-road-themed N-Trek, is not carrying over to the 2026 range.
