Croatian electric hypercar manufacturer Rimac Automobili has unveiled the latest addition to its Nevera lineup: the Nevera R.
This new model is designed to be the more aggressive, track-focused sibling to the already impressive Nevera, previously crowned as the world's fastest production electric vehicle (EV).
From hyper GT to true hypercar
The Nevera R represents a shift in focus for Rimac, moving from a grand touring emphasis to a pure hyper sports car experience.
Rimac has re-engineered various elements of the Nevera to create the R. The result is a hypercar with sharper driving dynamics, a more performance-oriented battery system, increased power output and upgraded brakes. The Nevera R also sports a revised visual identity that reflects its performance focus.
Re-engineered for agility
The Nevera R's exterior has been sculpted for aerodynamic efficiency and improved downforce. A large fixed rear wing and an aggressive aero package, including a new diffuser, boost downforce by 15% and aerodynamic efficiency by 10%.
These enhancements, combined with new Michelin Cup 2 tyres, result in reduced understeer, increased lateral grip and faster lap times.
Rimac also boasts a range of enhancements aimed at improving cornering performance, including next-generation all-wheel torque vectoring and a revised traction control system.
These systems work in conjunction with the increased downforce to deliver exceptional stability and lateral performance. The steering system has also been refined for sharper response and improved driver feedback.
Record-breaking performance
Beyond its improved cornering prowess, the Nevera R is also blisteringly quick in a straight line with a staggering 1573kW on tap. Rimac claims it can reach 300 km/h in a mere 8.66 seconds, surpassing the Nevera's 9.22 seconds.
The Nevera R is built around a bespoke 108kWh battery pack, which offers increased power and efficiency in a lighter package.
The hypercar's new EVO2 brakes also feature a carbon ceramic construction with a silicone matrix layer for improved stopping performance, cooling and durability.
Mate Rimac, founder and CEO of Rimac Group, explained the motivation behind the Nevera R's development: "When we developed the Nevera, an important part of the brief was that it should be a Grand Tourer... But we're relentlessly tweaking to customers' desires, and many were looking for a car that really emphasised the Nevera's cornering ability, using all the advanced technology on board. We responded with the Nevera R: all the DNA of the record-breaking Nevera, but lighter, faster and more focused."
Limited production
The Rimac Nevera R takes the Rimac to new heights in hypercar engineering, pushing the boundaries of what's possible with electrification.
But like other models in the lineup, the Nevera R will be a rare beast, with production limited to just 40 units worldwide. It will be launched in Nebula Green, a new colour inspired by the Nevera Time Attack's Lightning Green highlights. The interior will offer additional colour and trim options, allowing for further personalisation. All that said, the Nevera R is sure to be a hit among collectors.
