- Kiwi priced for VZ5 confirmed at $119,990.
- NZ numbers undisclosed, 'select dealer allocation'.
- Five-cylinder engine makes 287kW/480Nm.
The most exotic version of the Cupra Formentor, the VZ5, will arrive in New Zealand at a price of $119,990. That's a whopping $32k more than the current flagship Formentor, the VZ, but still $12k less than the Audi RS3 Sportback - the model with which it shares its growly 2.5-litre 5-cylinder engine.
Available in the previous Formentor in Europe, this is the first time the VZ5 has been produced in right-hand drive. Global build is limited to 4000 and Cupra NZ is staying mum on its allocation (it's a "select dealer allocation", says the company).
The 2.5‑litre turbocharged 5‑cylinder engine makes 287kW/480Nm. Paired with a seven‑speed DSG transmission and 4Drive all‑wheel drive, the VZ5 launches from 0-100km/h in 4.2 seconds.
As with the VZ, there are 5 drive profiles including Comfort, Performance, Cupra, Individual and Drift. Dynamic chassis control and Akebono six‑piston front brake callipers with 375mm discs are standard.
The exterior wears VZ5 sports bumpers, quad exhaust pipes, Matrix HD headlights with digital projection, "coast‑to‑coast" LED taillights, and dark chrome badging.
Customers can further personalise the VZ5 with optional Cup bucket seats, black or copper carbon‑fibre mirror caps, a panoramic sunroof, special or matte paint, and 20‑inch machined Sport Black and Copper alloy wheels.
