Medium SUV with good safety features and comfort. Top specification fills these requirements. Comfort and ability to take 3-4 adults.

What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you.

Great level of technology. Excellent fuel economy on 91 RON fuel. Comfortable for both front and rear passengers. Smooth driving.

What have you discovered since owning the car?

Some annoying areas like left leg for driver bumps into centre console. Infotainment system sometimes lags. Need to set up car functions before driving.

What do you like/dislike about the car?

As above the infotainment system needs refining. Often lags with touch. Emergency Lane Assist often too aggressive. Ride a little bumpy on some country roads.

Any other comments on the car?

Overall a good substitute for a Toyota RAV 4 Hybrid. Available now in good colour range.

Great value compared to the competitors. Excellent level of technology. Very safe and comfortable drive. The Haval engineers will no doubt improve the model in the next release.

(including all on-road costs) $27,000 What were your needs when you bought this car? Has it fulfilled those needs? Ease of access, good boot space, excellent road handling. Overall a well made vehicle. All proved to have been met. What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you. Solid and felt a high degree of safety, plenty of safety features, had adequate power. Interior excellent layout, Leather and heated seats front and back. plenty of leg room in the rear. Excellent rear camera and sensors. What have you discovered since owning the car? Petrol usage 10L/100k, parts are expensive, if under warranty limited service outlets. Need a step ladder to wash the roof. What do you like/dislike about the car? Like: overall comfort, handling, construction heavier than average, o/all weight around 2.5t. Dislike: Parts and service costs. Properly to many unnecessary extras. Any other comments on the car? Would make a good towing vehicle. Yes Why would/wouldn't you buy it again? Increased design of later models would add even more enjoyment to the experience. More models on the road would encourage more dealers.

Has it fulfilled those needs? My needs were to have a Hybrid that was readily available and was comparable to the mainstream Japanese models. It has fulfilled the need. What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you. My initial thoughts were, it's bigger in all dimensions the shape is more appealing and it's higher spec'd that the Japanese equivalent. What have you discovered since owning the car? The drivers seat base isn't long enough to support your legs sufficiently, there is no space under the break pedal to put your right foot when the cruise control is active. So you have to put your foot over to the left next to your left foot. The radar pad for the cruise control is too low and gets covered in road grime which causes problems with activating the cruise control, often I have to stop to clean it before I can activate the cruise control. A plus factor is the lane assist is not too intrusive or violent when it operates and the leg room front and rear is good as well as head room. What do you like/dislike about the car? I don't much like the feel of the steering because its electric it can be quite jerky when steering quickly, I also don't like the fact that if you want to drive in Eco mode it won't stay in that mode permanently when the vehicle is turned off it reverts to Normal mode. The standard tyres are Hankook they don't instill any confidence in me as they seem to not hold the road when taking a 80km/h corner at 100km/h you can feel the vehicle slide and they spin without trying, and when the roads are wet they are absolutely rubbish. Any other comments on the car? Generally not a bad vehicle, however, not ideal if you are tall merely because of the short seat base and low pedals. No Why would/wouldn't you buy it again? If the seat base and pedals were changed yes and I would insist on better tyres before collecting it, and I would rather have the mats from the Ultra as opposed to the standard Lux floor mats.
