BMW has unveiled the iX4, a new electric coupe SUV from its Neue Klasse family, with a claimed driving range of up to 828km for the 50 xDrive.
The initial market launch is scheduled for March 2027, when the 40 and 50 xDrive variants will arrive.
Electric range and charging

The 50 xDrive combines a 108.7kWh usable battery with 345kW and 645Nm.
BMW quotes a 0–100km/h time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 210km/h, alongside that maximum WLTP range figure.

The iX4 40 sits below it, producing 275kW and 520Nm. It reaches 100km/h from rest in 5.6 seconds and has a quoted WLTP range of up to 638km. That gives buyers a choice of two initial versions, with different power outputs and range claims, before the M60 joins the line-up.
Charging is another substantial part of the 50 xDrive's specification. The iX4 uses an 800V electrical architecture, and the 50 can accept DC charging at up to 400kW. BMW says it can add up to 387km of range in ten minutes under suitable conditions at maximum charging power. Battery temperature, state of charge and the charger all affect whether those figures can be achieved.
Cabin and M60 plans

Inside, BMW's Panoramic iDrive system is paired with a 17.9-inch central display.
The cabin also has a panoramic glass roof, with the equipment and specifications in the announcement based on the German market.

Orders for the M60 are due to open at the end of January 2027, with its launch following the initial pair. BMW's provisional figures include 450kW, 875Nm, a 3.9-second 0–100km/h time and 777km of WLTP range.
BMW has not announced New Zealand pricing or launch timing for the iX4.
