Body-colour trim meets optional carbon

  • Hyundai has revealed an Elantra N Monochrome option with body-colour exterior trim and newly designed forged wheels.
  • The Upper version adds carbon-fibre mirrors and a rear spoiler to the Basic version’s styling treatment.
  • Hyundai plans an Australian launch, but New Zealand does not currently get the Elantra N.

Hyundai’s Elantra N Monochrome adds a subdued new look to a hot saloon New Zealand buyers already miss out on.

The Elantra is known as the i30 Sedan in Australia, which is on the list for this latest version. The saloon is not sold here, and Hyundai has announced no New Zealand launch for the Monochrome.

Revealed on 19 October, the treatment answers customer requests for a more restrained appearance. Hyundai has concentrated on styling and cabin materials, with no new power figure or performance gains announced.

A choice of finishes

Body-colour treatment reaches the front and rear bumpers, side sills, brake calipers and diffuser, replacing the contrasting details with a more uniform finish. Newly designed forged wheels are also part of the package.

Hyundai lists two paint colours, Abyss Black Pearl and Performance Blue, although colour availability will depend on the market. Monochrome therefore does not mean buyers are restricted to black paint.

Buyers will have a choice of Basic and Upper versions. Basic combines black-themed styling with Alcantara details, while Upper adds a carbon-fibre rear spoiler and mirror housings.

Inside, selected surfaces receive Alcantara, including the steering wheel. Exclusive black buttons on the wheel carry the subdued theme into the driver’s immediate view.

Market rollout

Sales begin in Korea in late October, with Canada also included in the planned rollout and further markets to follow.

Hyundai has yet to disclose pricing, market-specific specifications or production volumes. Buyers will also have to wait for confirmation of the colours and equipment offered in each country.
