Independent suspension meets reversible seats

  • The Scrambler SRT concept introduces independent front suspension to a Wrangler built for desert performance.
  • Its rear seats can be removed or turned around, changing how the pickup bed is used.
  • Jeep confirms V8 power but has not disclosed engine capacity, output or a production date.

Jeep has given the Wrangler a pickup bed, reversible rear seats and a substantial suspension rethink for its latest Scrambler SRT concept.

Revealed for SEMA in Las Vegas, the V8-powered build takes the familiar off-roader towards high-speed desert running. SRT has fitted independent front suspension to a Wrangler for the first time, with a bespoke high-travel arrangement developed with Casey Currie. A trophy-truck-inspired rear axle completes the running-gear overhaul.

That engineering change sits underneath bodywork that departs considerably from the Wrangler shape. The concept retains its Wrangler chassis, but the body has been reshaped from the A-pillars rearwards, incorporating longer doors and a pickup bed.

A bed with another purpose

The rear seating is more flexible than the pickup silhouette might suggest. Seats attach to hooks in the floor and can be removed to clear space for cargo. They can also be rotated through 180 degrees to face backwards, allowing passengers to sit looking out across the tailgate.

A roll cage and pronounced wheelarch flares reinforce the off-road treatment. Up front, a shark-nose design changes the vehicle's expression, while Punk'n orange paint and bronze beadlock wheels give the Scrambler its own colour scheme.

The cabin carries that combination inside, using dark graphite leather with orange inserts and stitching, bronze accents, SRT markings and grab handles.

Jeep has confirmed a V8 under the bonnet, but has not disclosed its capacity or output in the announcement. The Scrambler remains a concept, with no production date, price or New Zealand launch announced. For now, its main story is the way SRT has reworked the Wrangler's suspension and body to suit a different kind of off-road driving.
