Contrasting panels meet pale leather.

Contrasting panels meet pale leather.

  • Wrangler Switchback closes Jeep’s Twelve 4 Twelve anniversary series with contrasting factory panels.
  • Gecko green details extend from the grille surround to the model’s brightly coloured beadlock rings.
  • Sea Salt Nappa leather introduces a new interior treatment across the dashboard, armrests and console.

Jeep’s latest Wrangler gets its contrasting colour scheme by borrowing panels from its neighbour on the production line.

The 2027 Wrangler Switchback pairs Gloss Black and Sting Gray bodywork, with doors exchanged between vehicles during regular assembly. The bonnets make their colour swap separately at an upfitting centre. The result puts the contrast into substantial pieces of bodywork, alongside the model’s graphics and badges.

Based on the Rubicon X in two-door and four-door forms, Switchback is the twelfth and final instalment in Jeep’s Twelve 4 Twelve series celebrating the brand’s 85th anniversary. US orders open in November 2026. The two-door starts at US$66,695 including US destination charges, approximately NZ$119,000 at the 15 October exchange rate. That is a currency conversion, with New Zealand availability and pricing yet to be announced.

Green rings, black hooks

Jeep cites gaming and digital culture as influences, with vivid Gecko green providing the brightest accents. It appears around the grille, on the beadlock rings, in the bonnet graphics and on the swing-gate decal. Jeep says this is the first production Wrangler with brightly coloured beadlock rings.

Black tow hooks, black Jeep and Trail Rated badges, and “41” decals complete the exterior treatment. The three-piece hardtop can be black or Sting Gray, extending the contrasting colours above the doors.

The Rubicon hardware remains part of the appeal: Rock-Trac part-time four-wheel drive and Tru-Lok locking differentials at both axles accompany the beadlock wheels and all-terrain tyres.

A lighter cabin treatment

Inside, Global Black Nappa leather seats carry debossed Switchback branding. The bigger departure is Sea Salt Nappa leather across the dashboard, door armrests and centre-console lid, a first for the Wrangler. Pearl and Lime stitching connects the pale trim with the exterior accents.

There are smaller details to find between the seats and around the tailgate, too. Cupholder and swing-gate plaques incorporate blueprints, maps and references to Detroit and Toledo, while a satin-chrome Willys medallion decorates the gear selector. Willys graphics also appear on the climate controls.
