Mercedes-Benz has added two new limited-run E-Class editions to its New Zealand line-up, both leaning hard into the blacked-out look.
The Mercedes-Benz E 300 AMG Night Edition and Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid Dark Carbon Edition are on sale at local dealerships from May 15, 2026, priced from $131,900 and $204,900 respectively. Both prices are indicative drive-away figures, including GST and on-road costs, but excluding statutory government fees calculated at registration.
E 300 gets the night shift
The E 300 AMG Night Edition brings darker exterior details via the Night Package, along with darkened door sill trims inside.
For the first time on an E 300, it also gets 21-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels in a black high-sheen finish.

Mechanically, it sticks with the familiar mild-hybrid 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Mercedes-Benz lists peak outputs of 190kW and 400Nm, with 0-100km/h taking 6.3 seconds.
Inside, the E 300 keeps the executive-sedan brief intact. There is the MBUX multimedia system with a 14.4-inch central display, a 12.3-inch passenger display and a digital Edition badge specific to this limited model. Sport front seats with climatization, broad connectivity and driver-assistance systems are also included.
AMG adds plug-in punch
The Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid Dark Carbon Edition takes the theme further.
AMG Night Package and Night Package II are standard, darkening the wheels, mirror housings, badging and grille elements.

It also wears 21-inch AMG forged alloy wheels in black, while the cabin adds an AMG carbon-fibre centre console. Nappa leather AMG upholstery, AMG steering wheel buttons, AMG Dynamic Select, MBUX Interior Assistant and AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive are part of the package.
Fast, dark and partly electric
The E 53’s plug-in hybrid powertrain produces up to 450kW and 750Nm, enough for a claimed 0-100km/h time of 3.8 seconds. Mercedes-Benz also lists a NEDC electric-only range of 101km and combined fuel use of 1.7 litres per 100km.
The AMG model further includes AMG Ride Control suspension, AMG-specific braking and suspension systems, and the AMG Dynamic Plus Package.
Both editions are clearly aimed at buyers who want the latest E-Class with a sharper visual edge. One is the understated executive option with extra attitude; the other is a properly rapid AMG hybrid dressed almost entirely for night-time.
