The more rugged-looking N-Trek model did not make it through to Nissan New Zealand's revised X-Trail range earlier this year, but a replacement has now emerged: the Rock Creek.
Think of it as an answer to Toyota's RAV4 Adventure model and you're getting the idea. The Rock Creek is based on the X-Trail ST-L, but builds upwards with a black V-motion grille, black roof rails, gloss-black door mirrors, a unique front lower bumper and exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels, complemented by orange accents on the front and rear badging and the alloy wheels.
The "three-slot" horizontal grille treatment is a direct reference to the Navara ute and is exclusive to the Rock Creek version of the X-Trail. Headlining the colour palette is a new Baja Storm exterior paint, paired with a black roof.
Inside, durable nylon-trimmed seats feature embroidered Rock Creek badging. There's orange contrast stitching across the seats and dashboard trim, along with an orange Nissan badge accent on the steering wheel.
There's a small technology step-up over the ST-L, with a 10.8-inch head-up display and a 12.3-inch full TFT instrument cluster.
Rock Creek comes in petrol 7-seat or e-Power 5-seat versions, for introductory prices of $50,590 and $55,590 from August 1 to September 30. After that, they will cost $56,590 and $61,590 respectively (standard ST-L $44,990-$52,990).
X-Trail e-Power goes FWD
Nissan is taking another leaf out of Toyota's book with the introduction of a front-drive version of the X-Trail e-Power (Toyota NZ has just introduced a FWD RAV4 hybrid for the first time).
The two-wheel-drive e-Power variants offer 150kW and return combined fuel consumption of 5.4l/100km, an improvement of approximately 11.5% over the AWD e-Power (6.1l/100km).
From August 1 until September 30, the FWD X-Trail e-Power will be offered at a special introductory price of $49,990 plus on-road costs for the ST-L and $55,990 plus on-road costs for the Ti-L.
First deliveries of both the Rock Creek and e-Power X-Trail models are expected in September.
