Megane gets sharper.

Megane gets sharper.

  • Renault has restyled Megane E-Tech electric with new lighting, clearer trims and revised interior finishes.
  • Production remains in Europe, with assembly at Douai and motor manufacturing at Cleon in France.
  • Renault has paused NZ passenger sales, so local timing remains subject to its range review.

Renault has given the Megane E-Tech electric a substantial update, sharpening the compact EV's design and simplifying the range as competition grows fiercer.

A stronger face

The front end is the most obvious change.

Renault says every front component apart from the headlights is new, with a more prominent body-coloured bumper section, gloss black closed grille and a revised diamond-pattern light signature.

At the rear, the full-width lighting layout remains, but the lamps now use a three-dimensional design without a covering lens. The car also sits slightly taller by 20mm, which Renault links to the larger battery packaging, while the reshaped rear skirt is intended to give the EV a sportier stance.

Simpler trims

The updated Megane E-Tech electric range has been reorganised around two trim levels: Techno and Esprit Alpine. Techno gets a dynamic exterior look with new 19-inch alloy wheels, while Esprit Alpine becomes the more exclusive version with 20-inch wheels and trim-specific design details.

Inside, Techno adds a TEP dashboard finish and optional power seats, while Esprit Alpine gains updated door-panel trim with a grey-to-blue effect. Renault says Megane E-Tech electric buyers have included many customers new to electric vehicles, so the update is partly about making the car easier to understand and easier to choose.

What about New Zealand?

There is no confirmed New Zealand launch plan for this updated Megane E-Tech electric.

Renault paused sales of passenger cars locally in mid-2024, although by March 2026 it had been conducting a full review of its passenger and light commercial range.

That makes the facelift relevant, but not locally guaranteed. For now, it shows what Renault's compact EV is becoming if the brand decides passenger cars still have a place here.
