Global test programme

Skoda's new Peaq electric SUV has completed a major global test programme ahead of its world premiere on 23 June 2026.

The Peaq will sit as Skoda's new flagship electric SUV and is based on Volkswagen Group's MEB+ platform. Skoda says test vehicles have covered more than 1.5 million km across three continents, with real-world running backed by virtual high-performance computing simulations.

Heat, cold and harsh surfaces

That programme deliberately pushed the SUV through very different climates and surfaces. In heat, Skoda tested in the Arizona desert. In cold weather, prototypes were evaluated around 200 km north of the Arctic Circle, where temperatures dropped below -30 C.

Those freezing-weather tests focused on practical winter performance, including rapid window defrosting and efficient cabin heating. Skoda also used the conditions to assess snow and ice behaviour, grip, stability and the operation of safety systems.

The MEB+ platform brings new efficient electric motors and batteries that Skoda says enable a range of more than 600 km. The Peaq also gains an adaptive DCC chassis, intended to support a balanced driving character.

Inside, Skoda is positioning the Peaq around long-distance comfort and refinement. The SUV seats up to seven passengers, and the company highlights high comfort, low interior noise and a Sonos sound system among its key features.

Skoda has also confirmed a new Simply Clever detail: wipers with integrated washers, used for the first time in a Skoda model.

The Peaq's world premiere will be streamed from 18:25 on 23 June 2026. New Zealand launch timing, pricing and local specification have not been disclosed.
