Polestar has offered an early look at Formula 2030, a concept intended to preview the electric brand's next design era under design boss Philipp Römers.
Polestar has released just one front image, showing the concept's lighting treatment and little else.
The Dual Blade light signature remains, while the surrounding bodywork introduces the brand's next design direction.
A new face for 2027
Stakeholders have already seen the concept at Polestar's headquarters in Gothenburg. A global unveiling is planned for later in 2026, when more of the design should become clear.
Formula 2030 is expected to offer clues to two future models. A successor to the Polestar 2 is due in 2027, while the Polestar 7 is also on the company's product roadmap. Polestar has not disclosed production specifications, pricing or New Zealand plans for the concept.
The business behind the concept
The design preview arrives as Polestar adjusts its commercial expectations. In its official H1 2026 results, the company reported retail sales of 30,423 vehicles, up 0.4% year on year. Revenue fell 4.4% to US$1.36 billion.
Losses narrowed, but remained substantial. The operating loss improved 42.6% to US$629 million, while the net loss improved 29.4% to US$842 million. Polestar ended the period with US$888 million in cash.
The company also reduced its 2026 retail-sales guidance from low double-digit growth to low-to-mid single-digit growth. In the US, the Department of Commerce denied Polestar authorisation to sell model-year 2027 and newer vehicles under the Connected Vehicle Rule. Sales of earlier model-year inventory may continue, along with service, support and warranty work.
The full reveal later in 2026 should show how much of this new design is intended for the 2027 Polestar 2 successor and the Polestar 7.
