- New AWD flagship for Geely Starray EM-i range.
- Rear suspension upgrade, more drive modes.
- $4k premium over Starray EM-i Inspire FWD.
Geely has added a second electric motor to its Starray EM-i PHEV/super hybrid to create an AWD flagship model. The new model follows a range upgrade for the FWD Inspire, to a 29.8kWh pack giving 136km of electric driving.
The Starray AWD has the same battery and a quoted 130km of electric range, but also ups the power to 220kW/412Nm (FWD 193kW) and can hit 100km/h in 6.3 seconds.
At $56,990, the Starray EM-i costs $4k more than the Inspire FWD.
The AWD variant also introduces Snow and Off-road drive modes, joining the existing Pure, Hybrid and Power settings. It also gains a more sophisticated five-link rear suspension system (that's a whole extra link) to accomodate the extra motor.
The Geely Starray EM-i AWD will arrive in New Zealand early-October.
