  • Three-day Expo covering electrified vehicles.
  • Scheduled for Auckland Showgrounds, November 13-15.

A new 3-day EV and hybrid vehicle event promises to go beyond a traditional show environment by not only presenting different brands under one roof, but also giving consumers the opportunity to test-drive vehicles.

Show organisers say the event also aims to "put industry experts in front of consumers in a highly engaging and immersive environment."

The NZ EV & Tech Expo will run from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 November at Auckland Showgrounds. Laurence Carey, managing director of Squid Group, says that while buyers typically begin their search online, experiencing emerging technologies in person and speaking to experts remain a key part of the decision-making process.

“There's a lot of interest in EVs and plug-in hybrids, but for many people the market still feels crowded and confusing,” says Carey. “This expo gives people the chance to compare the latest models in person and actually test drive a few vehicles before making the decision to buy.

BAIC B30.
BAIC B30: Expo not restricted to plug-ins, with hybrids also going on show.

“Every major electric and hybrid brand will be under one roof. For someone trying to make a decision, that’s genuinely rare, and it changes the whole experience.”

The three-day event is expected to attract business owners and fleet decision-makers looking at lower-emission vehicle options, as well as everyday consumers.

“Business leaders are looking to electrify with confidence, and they’ll gain a competitive edge at the Expo with hands-on opportunities to explore cost savings, understand real-world fleet transitions and connect directly with suppliers and experts in the industry,” says Steven Lin, founder and director of BWK Group Limited, the company behind the Expo.

Seminars will run throughout the event, with topics expected to include financing options, battery safety, advanced driver assistance systems, and government support/EV infrastructure rollout across NZ.

Confirmed brands for the event so far include:

  • Geely
  • Arcfox
  • BAIC
  • Dongfeng
  • Farizon
  • Leapmotor
  • Lotus
  • Polestar
  • Smart
  • Volvo
  • Zeekr
